I am getting this ‘vibe.’
It did not happen overnight.
I began to become aware of it over a year ago.
It comes down to, ‘Things are changing.’
I cannot give you a specific event, movement, or person.
It is just a ‘vibe.’
I am talking about social media.
Instagram, to be specific.
I think people are tired of everything.
Designers are the ones to blame.
They post too much.
It as is simple as that.
Overkill.
Don’t know when to stop.
Draw the line.
They post ‘Fluff.’
Nothing.
I begin to just scroll right by.
‘Shit, really? They have a post two back.’
Not only do they post too much, but their posts are a ‘carousel.’
I see seven white dots, but I am bored with the first shot.
Posting for the sake of posting loses the audience.
It turns engagement into disinterest.
I wish they would hold back.
Think before they post.
‘How can we say this best?’
…And say it once.
It becomes lame.
Dull.
Boring.
The post did not work.
It did not work at all.
I just saw one with LOEWE working with ON.
They had people in poses spelling the letters.
Really?
It is almost as if the attitude is, ‘Let’s just get this done.’
But ‘let’s just get this done,’ shows.
It shows a brand that is losing its edge.
Its creativity.
…And it’s audience.
The art of restraint is key to maintaining intrigue and connection.
There is just so much content.
Less is more.
Knowing when to stop allows a post to breathe.
The beauty lies in holding back.
How did this get forgotten?
It is such an old concept.
A single meaningful post can resonate far more than a flood of nothing.
Because,
‘The loudest post is the post that goes unposted’
