THERE IS ANOTHER WAY TO RIDE

No matter what you do, there are rules, formalities, etiquette, and customs.

They are there to show you ‘how things are done.’

But ‘how things are done’ can change and should change.

No sport in the world follows the rules of ‘how things are done’ more than cycling.

None.

I love to ride, but something was missing or there was too much.

I could not figure it out.

I started to pull back.

Not from the rides themselves, but from what went along with the rides and what they were all about.

Why was I riding this way?

Over a few seasons, I got rid of it all.

I got rid of the Apps.

I got rid of the Phone.

I got rid of the Kit.

I even got rid of the Gears.

All that was left was me and a bike, and it changed everything.

I began to ride on my own.

I built a bike, a bike that I wanted to ride.

I was not using Strava for the right reason, and I deleted it.

I wore what I was wearing, I did not change.

I transitioned to Single-Speed.

It left me with nothing to think about.

It changed everything.

Everything.

I fell in love with cycling in a brand new way.

I ride the way I want.

I wear what I want.

I ride what I want.

I ride for myself now, ‘and that has made all the difference.’

Endurance, speed, bike, fashion, headspace, breathing, ‘tricks,’ visuals, thoughts, attitude, friendships, respect, style, manners, observations, fun, acknowledgements, rides, stops, it all got reorganized.

Derailleur is here not to grandstand but to show you there are alternatives, and the alternatives are wonderful.

Adapting your personal ‘how things are done’ changes absolutely everything.

Ride the ordinary or Derail into the extraordinary.

‘There is another way to ride.’

Come with me, I will show you.
