#29 THE HOOD STAYS UP

There is one piece of clothing that I love more than any other piece.

There is not a more perfect piece of clothing to wear…on NIGHTRIDES.

No question.

For sure.

Without a doubt.

100%

The good old Hoodie.

If I told you how many I had, you would say that is impossible.

It is not, believe me.

I have a post up on DERAILLEUR called ‘DON’T MISS IT.’

I am not talking about Hoodies in it.

I am talking about something else.

Oddly enough, I am talking about Greek Salad.

My train of thought was that you think you know something.

But then one day you realize you know nothing.

You love Greek Salad and order it every time you see it on a menu.

You become a bit of an expert at what a good one is and what a bad one is.

Then one day you are in Greece, and you have a Greek Salad.

And you say to yourself, ‘Oh, wait a second here, this is a Greek Salad.’

The Greek Salad in this post is the Hoodie.

I thought I knew what a good Hoodie was.

Then I discovered ‘House of Blanks.’

I purchased their Pullover Hooded Sweatshirt.

I have never looked back, and I never will.

I donated all the other Hoodies I owned.

I knew I would never wear them again.

I could end this post here and now with their link and simply say, ‘Buy one.’

Buy one.

This is what stood out to me.

Every hoodie I had before, the hood just hung down your back.

Limp.

Loose.

A bit on the right side.

Sometimes on the left side.

It drove me crazy.

It was too sloppy for the look I wanted.

The ‘House of Blanks’ Hoodie’s Hood has structure.

It stands up on its own.

You feel it on the back of your head.

…When it is down!

There are reasons for this.

Let’s get into it the ‘TJ” way.

You will see the reference 400 GSM.

GSM stands for Grams Per Square Metre, and this references the weight of the fabric.

So, the higher the GSM, the more hard-wearing and thicker the fabric is going to be.

400 is high.

A mid-weight fabric is under 250.

The higher the GSM, the thicker the fabric.

The higher the GSM, the less likely a fabric is to drape.

Okay, haha, class is dismissed.

Conclusion.

The hood stays up, stays in place, and has structure.

But it does not stop here.

In fact, it carries through in everything.

I don’t want to get into the stitching the way I did with GSM.

I will just say I have never seen anything like it.

It is a beautiful straight double stitch.

You can tell it took time, it is obvious.

You know, it is all about the ‘finishing.’

The last thing I want to discuss is fit.

It will be short and sweet.

It fits like no other hoodie has ever fit you.

They are true to size.

I am a medium and wear their medium.

BUT

I also wear their large.

If you are a medium and want that little bit more space, their large is great.

You will not be swimming in it, I promise.

Okay, last but not least.

I am Canadian.

‘House of Blanks’ is Canadian.

In fact, they go out of their way to let you know.

Go ‘House of Blanks’ GO!

Canadian, and an admirable work ethic/culture.

My kind of company.

Let me sneak in one more.

I have a post about their T-Shirts.
