#87 WE’RE MADE FOR TODAY

There is one sport that I have kind of neglected.

One sport that transfers beautifully to cycling.

One sport that has incredible styles.

One sport that has incredible designers.

One sport that is big and becoming even bigger.

Tennis.

I have written many posts about how well golf transfers to cycling.

It is at the core of Derailed Couture.

But tennis is a close second.

Almost tied.

If it was a cycling race between the two, tennis would be riding golf’s tire.

I always thought tennis was big.

But it is getting even bigger.

Tournaments are massive.

Players are huge celebrities.

Movies are being made.

‘Honey Deuce,’ a drink at the US Open, generated $10 Million in sales.

Retired players draw massive crowds wherever they appear.

Everyone is into it.

I knew I would get into Tennis sooner or later.

Haha, it is just that there is so much amazing stuff ‘out there.’

It was kind of like a kid being faced with ten wrapped presents and not knowing where to start.

I think if you looked in your drawer or what is hanging in your closet, you would find at least two items that have a tennis story.

A polo.

A pair of shorts.

A sweater.

I think the first name that comes to mind when you think of tennis fashion is Lacoste.

Lacoste has it down, no question there.

There are others, though.

Underdogs.

One of the main themes of Derailed Couture is to dig deeper.

See who else is ‘out there.’

Nothing wrong with getting a compliment on a nice Lacoste shirt you have on.

Even better to get a compliment on something that the label is not known.

Sigrún

The female warrior synonymous with victory.

‘We respect the historical aesthetic of the sport, but we’re made for today.’

Their line, not mine.

How about another gem?

‘We feel our best when we’re confident in what we’re wearing, and we want what we wear to represent our individuality.’

SOLD

The core of Derailed Couture.

I think I even use a few of the same words.

I love it when I come across ‘like minds.’

Based in New York.

A beautiful site.

Beautiful styles.

They divide their line into ‘Active,’ and ‘Off-Court.’

A nice division.

They do a ‘deep dive’ into every item.

One click and you are in there.

There is not one thing that you would not wear on a ride.

The shorts?

Moisture wicking, quick dry, anti-odour, multi-stretch fabric AND a waterproof phone pocket.

The Polos?

Cool to the touch, moisture wicking, anti-odour, quick dry, 50+ UPF protection, and breathable.

Exactly what you are looking for with a few extras.

I love these kinds of companies.

Great ethics.

Great site.

Great ‘About.’

The kind of company I am looking for.

The kind of company I purchase from.

A kind of company, well?

A ‘Derailed Couture’ kind of company.

Hey, check out their ‘Resort Shirts.’
