SURPLUS VALUE

Five minutes after I get up in the morning, I put on music.

Five minutes before I go to bed at night, I turn it off.

Once or twice during the day, I do turn it off.

I will put on a Podcast.

I have a couple of ‘Go To’s.’

I like to listen to them while cooking dinner, cleaning the house, that kind of thing.

I was listening to one the other day.

But kind of not listening to it.

The guy said something, and I tuned back in.

I started it from the beginning again.

He mentioned ‘Surplus Value.’

His take was that you should give more love than you receive.

It is all about giving back.

Give. Give. Give.

Giving back so much that you have created a surplus.

‘Surplus Value.’

It is not a way of keeping score.

It is not something to keep track of.

A bank account you did not know you had.

A bank account that you deposit into every chance you can.

A bank account for non-tracked deposits.

The bank account grows.

You grow.

But there are times I have to make a withdrawal.

I try and ride the best I can.

Yeah, for sure, performance-wise.

But another more important ‘ride the best I can.’

I ride and try to be the best person I can be.

Happy.

Respect.

Courtesy.

Manners.

Kindness.

Greetings.

I can, will, and have done something ‘stupid’ on my rides.

Like passing someone at a bad place.

I make a ‘withdrawal.’

Unlike unknown deposits, withdrawals are known.

I have withdrawn from my ‘surplus value’ account.

I am glad I have that account.

Now I need to make a few deposits.

Top it off.

But maybe I topped it off while I was thinking about my withdrawal.

An unknown deposit.

‘There is another way to ride.’
