‘Haute Couture’
Twice a year.
End of January, Spring/Summer.
Early July, Fall/Winter.
Get into it.
Follow it.
See what these designers are creating.
Stop scrolling on Instagram when you come across a ‘Creation.’
Dig in.
Read about it.
Look at the details.
The work involved.
The number of people involved.
The amount of skill.
Talent.
Experience.
The time.
The labour.
The talent.
…The Venues.
It is overwhelming.
It is overwhelmingly beautiful.
I am breaking you in slowly with this post.
I want to turn you on to something.
Something really good.
Start following a designer.
Womenswear.
Menswear.
Your call.
But up the ante.
If you are a woman, follow menswear.
If you are a man, follow womenswear.
Chanel, Jacquemus, Kenzo, Schiapparelli, Moncler, Thom Browne.
A major designer.
Just follow them.
Look at their creations.
Their shows.
Their collections.
Their openings.
For me, it is all about one thing.
Their ‘Haute Couture’ shows.
The one-on-one with the designer.
The seamstresses who spent seven days sewing jewels onto a sleeve.
It is so impressive and, to be honest, overwhelming.

Here is the cool thing.
Once you start following a designer of this calibre, your algorithm will change ever so slightly.
Another designer will show up.
It just goes from there.
It will open a whole new world.
Designers that you had never heard of before.
Best of all?
One day you will come across a designer.
Based in the UK.
Based in Canada.
Based anywhere.

…And you will think they are designing for you, and only you.
