I was watching something the other day.
It was a panel of people.
One of the gentlemen casually said, ‘Well, you know, repetition is reputation.’
It struck me.
It was powerful little phrase.
I really thought about it.
Like really thought about it.
The word ‘Repetition’ in particular.
I have issues with the word.
Completely personal issues.
I am an extremely repetitive person.
I do things over and over.
I eat things over and over.
I pretty well do everything over and over.
I am kind of hard on myself with it.
But the ‘issues’ I have, and the ‘kind of hard on myself’ I have with it, I am slowly letting go of.
Why am I hard on myself for something that really works for me?
Haha, okay, I will leave it at that.
I was talking to you as much as I was talking to myself there.
Thanks for letting me do that.
I think about DERAILLEUR.
Where I take from, where I draw from.
Where I want it to go.
How what I write and what I do consistently and repetitively shapes and defines my identity aka DERAILLEUR’s identity.
How I would like it over time to become my signature.
My reputation.
That every time I push the idea that cycling and style are about expression, not just performance, I hope I am reinforcing what DERAILLEUR stands for.
That every time I write about breaking from the pack, choosing individuality over uniformity, or wearing something that empowers you, I am cementing DERAILLEUR’S reputation.
It’s the rhythm of my rides.
The way I find my cadence, my flow.
