There is a white house with a black roof.
I ride by it on one of my routes.
It sits on about an acre of manicured grass.
Off in the corner is a pond.
It’s not a big one, about half the size of a backyard pool.
I first noticed that it had a fountain in the middle.
Then, as time went on and the more I rode by, I started to notice what else was there.
And man, oh man, there is lots there.
There is a working windmill.
There is Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
Mother Goose, wearing a graduation gown, cap, and carrying her diploma.
Her Goslings are chasing after her.
A Rabbit and four bunnies wait for her to cross.
There is a Skunk with them too.
A white wheelbarrow is overflowing with Geraniums.
An arched bridge takes you over an ‘Alice in Wonderland’ parade.
Three frogs float on green Lily Pads.
A Turtle, larger than Snow White, watches from the sidelines.
A tipped barrel sits on its side with its contents of planted flowers spilling out.
A bird bath, held up by four Raccoons.
Too many Garden Gnomes to count.
One is either shooting a gun or playing a violin.
It is hard to tell.
Perfect white flat stones are laid out to take you to every corner.
The most endearing?
Off to the side, but kind of front row centre, sits a Canopied Porch Swing, built for two.
Sitting on it most afternoons are the proud creators, looking out on their absolute pride and joy.
I wonder if they are discussing their next addition.
Every time I ride by, I try to find something I missed.
I think I have it all down.
I better have.
It is late in the season now, and everything is put away.
I am sure, lovingly.
The place looks naked.
