#24 CROSSING THAT LINE

I have a Post on DERAILLEUR.

It is called ‘BREAKING CHARACTER.’

It is one of my favourite Posts.

It is also one of my favourite things about my life.

I am outgoing when I am not on my bike.

On my bike, I am the total opposite.

Inward.

Little, if any words, quiet, silent.

I go by another name.

‘TJ’

It is a wonderful dynamic.

Best of all, a blast.

Each ‘me’ gives me a break from the other ‘me.’

The same can be said about my choice of Shorts and Polos.

I have lots of ‘outgoing’ clothes.

I have lots of ‘inward’ clothes.

The ‘inward’ clothes are straightforward.

One colour with a minor detail.

The ‘outgoing’ clothes have designs.

But for some reason, I have created a design line for myself.

A line I am reluctant to cross.

A line I have in my head.

It is hard to describe, but I stay below it or at it.

It is this odd barrier I have created for myself.

I know you know what I mean.

You see something, and you think, ‘Yeah, that is nice, but a little more than I am comfortable wearing.’

It is on the other side of the line.

But I am starting to cross that line.

And WOW, I am glad I did.

Small steps.

One step at a time.

One design at a time.

I let the design come to me, I don’t search for it.

It appears as the next Polo over beside the Polo I am looking at online.

It appears accidentally behind a pair of shorts I pulled from a rack.

It appears in a store window.

It appears at the table next to me at a restaurant.

I am breaking myself in gradually.

I have acquired some beauties.

I have not ridden in an ‘outgoing’ Polo and an ‘outgoing’ Short.

…Yet.

I like to do a little ‘outgoing’ with a little ‘inward.’

A little ‘Timothy’ with a little ‘TJ.’

A nice combination.

My favourite combination.

Funny, something as simple as crossing this line, has carried over to other things in my life.
