ENTITLED Part #3 Behind the Scenes

I was listening to a Podcast recently.

They referred to a study that a Group had conducted.

It was basic.

Basic is good, things do not have to be complicated.

The Study was based on ENTITLEMENT.

They set out to prove that people who drive high-end and expensive cars felt more entitled than drivers of ‘regular’ cars.

They set up at multiple stop signs on multiple days and watched.

Before long, they had their results.

People who drove high-end cars were far less likely to come to a complete stop than those who drove ‘regular cars.’

I will leave it there.

It is interesting.

It is in the bike world too.

For me, if I did the study, and the study was done with bikes, I think I would try and prove that the louder the ‘free wheel ratchet noise’ the more ENTITLED.

Okay, I don’t mean stopping at all stop signs.

I am beyond guilty of that.

I don’t even mean stop signs.

I just mean common manners.

Etiquette.

Decency.

Politeness.

Grace.

Style.

I am incredibly lucky where I live.

The F1 Circuit Gilles Villeneuve (CGV) is open to Cyclists when the race is not ‘in town.’

It is fantastic.

Repaved last summer.

Four kilometres of uninterrupted laps.

No cars.

No stops.

Curves.

Hairpins.

Straightaways.

It is where some of the best Cyclists in the province come to train.

Unfortunately, they are there too.

The ENTITLED.

But, I have fun with them here too.

They ride in their groups.

All in line.

They pass you and forget you.

But one should never forget.

I am not far behind and will maintain that distance.

They are good for a few laps.

I am good for more.

When they are done, they slow down and spread out across the entire width of the track.

They feel that since they are done, so is everyone else.

Uh, no.

ENTITLED.

The curtain rises for ‘The Show.’

I keep my pace and pick the two riders who are riding side by side the closest.

That is where I will ride through.

I ride through.

I fly through.

‘TABERNAK’

‘TABERNAK’

I am grinning.

I am gone.

They try to catch me, but they are done.

Haha, when I am there the next day, they try and return ‘the fire.’

‘Have it out.’

But they are predictable.

They do something lame.

They are ‘tough’ in their group, alone, they are nobody.

It is easy to say, ‘F OFF’ with your bike.
