I worked on the farm for most of my school summers. 

It was ‘hell’ then, but today I look back on it as ‘heaven.’ 

It was hard work. 

I have some great memories. 

There were a few barns. 

One seemed to attract the barn cats. 

Their breed was referred to as ‘Heinz 57.’ 

A cat that had unknown and a multitude of breeds in it. 

I think it can be used for cyclists as well. 

‘Heinz 57’ rider. 

The person who has every bike and rides every bike. 

I know you know one. 

It does not matter what the status of the bike is. 

It does not matter what the style of bike it is. 

They have each one. 

They ride each one. 

They are good on each one. 

Really good. 

They are just as comfortable on the track in full gear as they are on a ‘Beater’ the next day with a knapsack, shorts, and T-shirt. 

…as they pass you. 

I see them when they are tourists in my city on ‘Bixies.’ 

Riding a ‘Bixie’ that passes me. 

I admire them. 

It is a combination of admiration and respect. 

They don’t care. 

They are who they are. 

They do not give a shit. 

They are good. 

Good in two ways. 

Good in a multitude of ways. 

Good people. 

Fun. 

Great to hang around with. 

Always a pleasure to see. 

There is one guy, I know. 

He is a great guy. 

If you saw him on his ‘Beater,’ you would have no idea he is an Olympic Gold Medallist. 

I would like to consider myself a ‘Heinz 57.’ 

But not in the way I have described. 

Haha, and definitely not an Olympian. 

I am more of a ‘Heinz 57’ in that I combine it all into one ride. 

The one ride that I ride. 

Cycling is all about rules. 

Some of those rules may hinder your riding. 

Hinder by following them. 

Break them. 

Modify them. 

Be the best Cyclist you can be. 

Don’t buy into it all. 

Some will not work for you. 

Why keep doing it? 

Let your ‘ride’ tell your story. 

Let your ‘style’ tell your story. 

Ride you.
