#62 I WILL LEAVE THE UNDERWEAR TO YOU

Underwear.

Socks.

Belts.

I say it out loud when I am packing.

I want to ensure it is in my bag.

Essentials.

Crucial.

Haha, I am going to leave the underwear to you.

There are lots of variables with belts and socks.

They are kind of minor in the whole ‘look.’

In the film world, I would describe them as ‘supporting actors.’

But Supporting Actors get Oscars.

A minor role in a major film, worthy of an Oscar.

An actor crucial to the story.

A style addition, you are telling with your ‘story.’

That is the role socks and belts play.

I think of them as the ‘punctuation’ to the story you are telling.

The belt and socks alone for sure, but also how you choose to style them.

‘Variations on a Theme’

A good belt with the right extra belt length.

The extra part you slide into a pant loop.

The extra part you let loose.

I see ads for belts designed to get rid of this part.

I like the overhang.

It gives you options.

Casual.

I am not concerned.

Formal.

I mean business.

One colour.

Striped.

Leather.

Cloth.

It is nice to put a serious belt with a well-worn casual pair of shorts.

It turns it up.

It is nice to put a casual belt with a formal pair of shorts.

It calms things down.

Belts can bring out a colour in another piece of your clothing.

A navy belt with a light blue pair of socks.

Belts can also have nothing to do with what you are wearing.

There is that ‘belt matching your shoes’ line.

I am not with this one.

I love a black pair of shorts, socks, and shoes with a red belt.

A navy pair of shorts, socks, and shoes with a lime green belt.

Punctuation.

I like socks.

No, I love socks.

They play a key role in the ‘look.’

I would go as far as saying they can make or break a look.

I like them mid-calf.

I am not concerned if they match my shoes.

The contrast can be nice.

Or simply a different shade.

The only requirement I have is that they stay up, somewhat tight.

It can be annoying when you are on a ride, and they do not stay up.

I am into white lately, and light grey.

The right striped sock can look great too.

There is also another type of sock I like.

It is a loose sock.

It does not stay tight on the calf yet stays up.

I am becoming fond of those.

The whole shoe, belt thing is fun to play with.

Adds that one little extra something.

In the ‘story’ you are telling, it adds a punctuation mark.

Make it a period.
