The first one you see, you notice it, and then quickly forget.
The second time you see one, you spend a little more time on it.
You can see yourself putting your bike against the side.
You can see the inside.
You can see the menu behind the server.
The third time you see one, you say, ‘I am going to stop at the next one I see.’
You start to think about your order.
You have ordered the same thing for the past five years.
You think maybe this time I will try something different.
You think of all your options.
You think of what your friends have ordered in the past.
You scan the horizon for any signs of the next one.
You know you are good, there are lots of them around.
It does not have to be ‘The Queen.’
There are so many independent ones.
You see one ahead.
‘Shit, it is a garage.’
You keep riding.
There is a place ahead you can see.
There are a few cars parked out front, and people are mulling around.
You hope it is not another ‘garage.’
It is not.
You get excited.
One is going to be in your hands very shortly.
They even have a bike rack.
You put your bike in.
You get in line, and there is only one person ahead of you.
It is your turn.
For a hundredth of a second, you think of ordering something different.
But you don’t.
‘Medium Skor Blizzard, please and thank you.’
‘Riding through a Blizzard.’
Insert ice cream scoop emoji here.
‘There is another way to ride.’
