The first time I did this ride, I was with a couple of friends.
They were visiting from out of town.
I like to ride aimlessly.
One of those friends is the absolute total opposite of me.
Everything must be planned.
The route, mapped out.
The breaks, pinpointed.
I am fine with that, though.
It is a different way of riding.
There is nothing wrong with it.
He is a guest, this is the way he rides, and well, ‘when in Rome.’
I think he had the route planned out a week before he arrived.
Funny, when you ride with a few people, each one of you seems to have a certain ‘job.’
On this ride, he was ‘The Driver.’
It was nice to be ‘The Passenger.’
I could just ride, enjoy the scenery, and not have to make one decision.
Hands down, it was a great ride.
A really great ride.
Everything worked with us.
The weather, the roads, and best of all, the fun.
A few days later, they left town.
The next day, I set out to do the same ride.
There was a part of that ride that was everything.
I wanted to do it again.
I had not paid attention on that first ride as to where we went right, left, or straight.
I made a few wrong turns, but I eventually found it.
It is everything.
EVERYTHING.
I think you will agree.
I attached that special part of the ride as a video below.
You have to put a fair amount of time aside.
It is basically an entire afternoon.
Getting there is nice too.
But this part shines.
I have done it countless times since then.
Probably over a hundred.
But every time, like every time, is like my first.
Each time I ride it, I come around a curve and say to myself, ‘Oh yeah, this part, I forgot about it.’
I hope you have a ride in your back pocket like this one.
One you love.
One that is new every time.
One that you arrive home from and feel like you have been on vacation.
Funny.
The decisions about where to go, left or right?
There are no lefts or rights.
None.
Oh, and back to the part about everyone in the group having a certain ‘job?’
My ‘job’ is the entertainment.
