TABLE FOR SIX

I got back from a ride at 2:00AM.

I left at 1:00PM.

I actually got back at 5:00PM.

…Without my house key and debit card.

The moment I checked my last pocket, I pictured them on that picnic table.

That picnic table I took a break at, halfway through my ride.

I was not concerned about them still being there.

I have never seen anyone in that park, and it is in the middle of nowhere.

What did concern me was how far I would have to go back.

I headed back.

Haha, I rode, and I rode…and I rode.

I rode to the park and looked for the table.

I spotted it from far away.

It was easy.

Five people were sitting at it, with a picnic set up.

I have never seen anyone in this park before.

I get close, and they already know why I am there.

A woman has it in her raised hand.

I thanked them, and we started to talk.

Which led to ‘Join us!’

Which led to getting home at 2:00AM.

This time, with my key, my debit card, and a couple of new friends.

‘Table for Six’
